The Challenge
Alongside needed to communicate a nuanced product — AI-moderated peer chat — to audiences who might be skeptical about student privacy, safety, and the role of AI in mental health. The press release needed to build trust while generating excitement.
My Approach
I wrote the press release to lead with the student benefit and counselor validation, then follow with the product mechanics, safety model, and availability details.
- Led with a counselor quote to establish credibility and empathy
- Explained the "how it works" clearly for non-technical audiences
- Addressed safety and privacy proactively in the FAQ section
- Positioned the feature as differentiated from ChatGPT and anonymous chat apps
